Lexicographical Corpus of Portuguese
Description:
The project Lexicographical Corpus of Portuguese began in 2003 at the University of Aveiro and it produced results such as the bibliographical identification and characterization of the Portuguese dictionaries up to the 19th century; the publication of scientific articles and post graduate thesis in lexicography and lexicology; the collection of a marked up text corpus with approximately 4 million words; the publishing of electronic editions on the Internet and open access to lexical research application.
Goals:
- Continuing the compilation of a diachronic textual corpus consisting of dictionaries and metalinguistic texts.
- Creating an information system able to provide applications for lexical research, a dictionary-compiling data bank and online access to the textual corpus.
- Promoting linguistic and philological studies on the lexical corpus, as well as the training of human resources specialized in lexicography.
- Defining the philological bases of the TPC (including theoretical and methodological aspects) and a catalogue of documentary sources (from the 16th century to the beginning of the 19th century.
