The conference approaches the re-observation and re-appraisal of intuition in the field of genetic criticism. Topics covered at the conference will include, but are not limited to:
- The nature of intuition in genetic criticism;
- Confirmed or corrected intuition on any aspect of the collection, classification, and analysis of a genetic dossier;
- The status and function of evidence in genetic criticism;
- Change of view on the genetic process due to the emergence of a previously unknown document;
- Different reasonings based on the same genetic data;
- Models of reasoning in genetic criticism;
- Differences between intuition, evidence and proof in genetic criticism;
- The roles of digital tools and methodologies in the acquisition and retrieval of documentary evidence, and the way they refine intuition;
- Processing undocumented genetic stages in interpretation.
The conference is co-organised by the Centre of Linguistics of the University of Lisbon (CLUL / FLUL), the Institute for the Study of Literature and Tradition of the Nova University of Lisbon (IELT / NOVA FCSH), and the Institute of Modern Texts and Manuscripts (ITEM, CNRS / ENS, Paris).
